Ulmus procera

by AndyAmphlett » Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:05 am

Tom,

Ulmus procera is not listed under the entry for Ulmus (genus). See - https://database.bsbi.org/object.php?en ... onInstance, and go to Subdivisions. So searches for records of elms will not return any records of this species.

Thanks,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Thanks very much for reporting this. The hierarchy should resolve correctly as U. procera is listed with three parents (as a way of coping with complex aggregate problems) see https://database.bsbi.org/object.php?ob ... onInstance taxon hierarchy.

Searches are not working correctly as the species-level 'Ulmus minor auct.' parent is confusing the process (a species is not normally expected to be the descendant of another species-level entry that is not an explicit aggregate (except for some edge-cases involving rose hybrids). There could be other similar problems.

I'll investigate how to fix this.
