Colour-coded records

The meanings of the colour-coded records which show on many searches are not self evident. Grey is 'duplicate record' but what, for instance, does green mean, or yellow?
Can anyone please explain them, or is there perhaps a key somewhere?

maroon is a neutral status. The record has been entered into the system with minimal checks but has not been confirmed by a VCR.
yellow is a dubious record. Something that is doubtful but you might want to investigate further before rejecting it.
blue is a confirmed record, some high quality data sets have been added with this status to begin with.
red is rejected.

Thanks for replying Quentin, I should have responded to Geoff much sooner. The colours are poorly chosen - they almost certainly will change soon and the categories may also be revised.

In addition to the colours above, grey is a duplicate record.

Thanks Quentin and Tom. Yes, slightly darker colours, especially of yellow and green, would make them easier to read.

Just checking Calystegia sepium for VC48 and find numerous records by Peter Benoit [then VCR] in green. Also post-1987 records [blue and green which have come up on a "taxa not recorded since 1987" search. Have I misunderstood something?

The 'maroon' status is a catchall category at the moment, and is assigned by default to records from many sources (so at present it only literally means 'not confirmed or rejected in the DDb', rather than 'not confirmed by VCR') Edit: this category was formerly 'green'

'Blue' will become used for records confirmed by a DDb user (typically a VCR). A decision still needs to be made about how to classify records that have already come in 'confirmed' from external sources.

Quentin and I are working on a clearer description of this, with a suggested work-flow for DDb users. Broadly, the aim will be that VCR's and taxon referees will make use of the validity state to screen records for the 2020 Atlas - so that by the deadline the majority of valid taxon-gridsquare-dateclass combinations will have at least one record confirmed.
