Killarney Fern names

Hi,

I was looking for records of Killarney Fern, and noticed that records of Trichomanes speciosum are in the DDb as Vandenboschia speciosa (which differs from 3rd edition of Stace). But records of the gametophyte and sporophyte are listed under Trichomanes speciosum. Also, searching for the genus Trichomanes does not find records in the database under the name Vandenboschia.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for reporting this, the Trichomanes => Vandenboschia switch was made while there was uncertainty about which taxon list to use for the DDb. Subsequently the decision was made to follow Stace 3 for most names, so I've reverted the change.

The treatment of genus synonyms is a problematic issue, as Trichomanes and Vandenboschia aren't equivalent (even though it would be reasonable to treat the genera as synonyms based only on T./V. specios[a|um])
