Group by taxon name returns synonym (Stellaria)

by AndyAmphlett » Wed Mar 19, 2014 10:58 am

Hi,

running a query using either of the 'group by taxon name' options, returns separate rows for Stellaria alsine (Grimm) and S. uliginosa (Murray), the latter being a synonym. The count of uliginosa records is included in the alsine total, and listed separately. Changing the query to group by species, just returns S. alsine, with no mention of S. uliginosa. I've not noticed this behaviour for other synonyms.

Andy.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

The non-accepted taxon groupings occurred due to a caching error: a database table had some entries using synonym taxon id where the accepted one should have been used (affecting some of the records of 86 taxa). This error probably didn't affect searches that retrieved full records, but resulted in the odd group results that you observed.

Grouped results now appear to be correct (please let me know if you spot any recurrence of this in the future)
