Atriplex prostrata s.s.

by VCR111 » Thu Oct 05, 2017 8:55 pm

I see that all records for the Atriplex prostrata agg. in Scottish Saltmarsh Survey data set (2012) are entered as A. prostrata s.s. There are no records for A. glabriuscula, the much more likely taxon, in this data set, at least not in VC111, and I checked 112 as well. The aggregate is exceedingly problematic and I have doubts about the occurrence of A. prostrata s.s. in this VC. Perhaps these entries result from data entry rather than recording. In any case they would be better as A. prostrata agg.

Hi John,

Thanks for raising this. I've copied you in to an email query about this.

There are some glabriuscula records for some counties in this data set but not for VC111.

I found a letter from Pierre Taschereau to the previous VCR for Orkney stating that from his researches he had found that A. prostrata s.s. was absent from northern Scotland.
