Estimate rare/scarce classification

Tom,

Could you clarify how the 'estimate rare/scarce classification' query option works? It is under more options > attributes > estimate rare/scarce classification.

Hi Andy,

I'd forgotten what it meant. The criteria aren't sophisticated:

Based on post-1987 occurrences in a county the species must have

'Rare'
fewer than 4 distinct hectads
and fewer than 4 distinct tetrads
and fewer than 4 distinct monads

'Scarce'
fewer than 11 distinct hectads
and fewer than 11 distinct tetrads
and fewer than 11 distinct monads

Many thanks. I should have thought of that; it is the approach used in the spreadshet linked to via this Message Board post - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=155&p=1016&hilit=rpr#p1016. Having the steps of identifying taxa that match VC Rare and VC Scarce categories semi-automated, is very useful.
