Native status (hectads not in Atlas 2000)

Tom,

when using 'native' in a query, ie.

Image

how does the DDb deal with records where the taxon was not recorded in that hectad in Atlas 2000? Does it exclude those records?

Thanks,

Andy.

'native' would exclude unstatused records but you could combine this with a second clause to allow 'no status information' as well.

I'm working on improving handling of status - which will improve both the speed and flexibility of status based queries:

i) to treat the Atlas Status as fixed in perpetuity and introduce a new hectad-status set duplicating Atlas status but subject to further revisions (e.g. to take account of new information since the atlas and to start to form the basis of the 2020 revision) - that's already in the database but not yet queryable.
ii) to provide options to combine Atlas status and record status (e.g. a query for 'native' records might more usefully mean records from native atlas squares unless the record is explicitly marked as introduced/planted) or perhaps records that are native either based on Atlas hectad classification or at the record-level - and lots of other combinations...
iii) to speed up queries based on status - which currently can be painfully slow (a denormalized cache table for status exists but isn't used for most queries from the search form)

Edit: forgot also:

iv) status is missing in the search results for some recently uploaded or modified records (e.g. the status column in the results incorrectly fails to show atlas status). That's been fixed for newly modified records now, but I need to re-cache status for records where it was missing - hopefully overnight tonight as the update query may adversely affect database access while it's running.
